Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area Waterfalls

Welcome to the Waterfalls section of pictures found in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area page. Almost all of the pictures seen on this page are found immediately off of the Historic Columbia Highway, Route 30. The Historic Highway runs between Trouttdale (west) and Ainsworth (east). Sections of it continue onto Hood River.

Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall and fifth highest overall at 620' in the United States. It is featured here and is easily reached from the Historic Highway or exit 31 from I-84.

At the base of Wahkeena Falls, this is only about 1/2 mile west of Multnomah Falls. It is a 4.4 mile roundtrip hike from Multnomah falls to the top of Wahkeena Trail. This is a very steep trail with many switchbacks after passing Wahkeena Falls. After reaching the top, the trail will continue to Larch Mountain or you can do a return down through Multnomah Falls.
