Death Valley National Park

Welcome to the Death Valley National Park Website of pictures within the World from the Web Home page. The park is located in Southeastern California along the Nevada border. There are no major cities near Death Valley. Pahrump, Nevada is the nearest city (1 hour) of any notable size. Las Vegas is 2 hours away and Los Angeles is 4 hours away. There are many routes that lead into the park. From I-15 (Los Angeles), take Rt. 127 north through Shoshone and into the southern portion of the park. From Las Vegas, take Rt 160 to Rt. 190 into the park.

The National Park contains over 3,336,000 acres of which over 3,000,000 acres are wilderness. The altitude change in the park is from 282' feet under sealevel at Badwater to 11,049' at Telescope Peak. Badwater is the lowest elevation in the U.S. Temperatures in July average a high of 116F. Temperatures over 120F are not unusual during the summer. There are facilities within the park. Because of its enormous size and heat during the summer months, proper planning is advisable.
