Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Welcome to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Website of pictures within the World from the Web Home page. Located in the east portion of Pennsylvania and the western portion of New Jersey, the Delaware Gap is located in the heart of the eastern Pocono Mountains. It is the gateway to this area if you are traveling from the east. The park can be reached from New York City by taking I-80W (70 miles) which passes through the south portion of the park. From Philadelphia, take the Blue Route (I-476N) to I-80E. Follow signs to the park. Route 209 passes through the majority of the park which mostly runs on a north/south course with the Delaware River. Rt 209 connects the largest cities, Port Jervis (to the north) and Stroudsburg (to the south). Facilities are found throughout the Recreation Area.

The Delaware Gap park contains 70,000 acres along a 40 mile stretch of the Delaware River. Especially scenic is the S-turn of the river, featured in the photos below. There are many waterfalls found throughout the park and this area.

Activities include camping, biking, hiking, fishing, boating, cross country skiing and sightseeing. For more information, contact Superintendent, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Bushkill, PA 18324 or call 717-588-2435
