Impounded behind the Bureau of Reclamation's Glen Canyon Dam, waters of the Colorado River and tributaries are backed up almost 200 miles, forming Lake Powell. The lake and 1,193,671 acres of federal land reside in the desert and canyon country. The National Recreation Area is located in the vicinity of 6 National Parks and 1 National Monument. Summer temperatures can get quite hot, reaching 110F. Page, AZ is the only nearby town. It has full services and facilities. From Flagstaff, AZ, take Rt 89N into Page, AZ.
