Grand Canyon National Park

Welcome to the Grand Canyon West page of pictures. These pictures are all from the south rim in the Hualapai Indian Nation in the extreme western portin of the park. Although remote in location, this spot is actually closer to the cities of Las Vegas and Los Angeles then the South Rim which is the typical tourist spot. From Las Vegas, take Rt 93 S until you reach the Dolan Springs exit. After getting off, follow the road and signs until reaching Diamond Bar Road. Make a right and follow the road all the way into the park. This is a 21 mile stretch with 13 miles being on unpaved, rough, but passable roads. This is less then a 3 hr. trip vs. at least 5 hrs. to the south rim from Las Vegas. Once in the park, there are 2 fees that you can pay. The more expensive one includes a bus tour and a BBQ lunch. There is also a small airport at the park. This portion of the park is limited in the way of facilities. The pictures below will show this portion of the Grand Canyon to be as magnificent as any of the other spots. You are 4800' above the Colorado River.

The Eagle at Eagles Point. Although partly obscured from the shadows, it can still be made out in the center of the picture.
