Mt. Hood National Forest

Welcome to the Mt. Hood National Forest Website of pictures within the World from the Web Home page. Located in northwestern Oregon, it is easily accessed from Portland. The Forest borders are approximately 20 miles to the east. Take Rt. 26E from Portland directly into the park.

The park encompasses 189,200 acres, ranging in elevation upto 11,245' above sea level. Mt. Hood is a volcano, similar to many of the mighty peaks in the Cascade range. It is the highest mountain in the state of Oregon.

Numerous outdoor activities are offered in this area. Activities include camping, fishing, cross country skiing, numerous ski areas, hiking and sightseeing. Nearby Portland and many of the smaller towns in the Columbia Gorge area offer full resources and facilities such as hotels, restaurants and fuel. Portions of the Mount Hood National Forests itself are fairly remote.
