Mount Rogers National Recreation Area

Welcome to the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area of pictures within the World from the Web Home page. Located in the southwestern portion of Virginia, this national recreation area is in a remote portion of the state. Wytheville, the nearest town, is located just to the north. It offers full resources and facilities. From Wytheville, take Rt 21S directly into the park or get on I-81S where there will be numerous exits leading into the park.

The park is approximately 120,000 acres and features Mt Rogers, which at 5,729' is the highest peak in Virginia. The park is contained within the larger George Washington and Jefferson National Forest.

All pictures on this page are from the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, using various film and digital cameras. Pictures were taken in the southern end of the park, a less frequented area. Grayson Highlands State Park, which is adjacent to the recreation area, was also visited and photographed.
