The park is 761,757 acres. Elevations range from 2,900' to 13,114'. The park offers three major features including alpine wilderness, groves of Giant Sequoias, and the renowned Yosemite Valley. The Valley carves through high granite walls tempered by waterfalls. Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in North America. It actually consists of three falls that total 2,425'. Yosemite Falls is the world's 5th highest. One of perhaps three of the most beloved parks in the U.S. (Grand Canyon and Yellowstone being the other two), Yosemite offers views of gigantic rock cliffs, waterfalls and sequoia trees. The photographer Ansel Adams has made famous many of the park scenes.
